Hi Everyone!

Today is the first day of spring, but thanks to a snow storm last week there is still a ton of snow on the ground. Winter may be on it’s way out but it seems determined to not go quietly. Normally, by this time of year I am winter weary and dreaming of the warmer weather but this year I have decided to enjoy the last few weeks (hopefully not longer) of winter weather by taking some time to slow down, to nest and breathe.

Today’s Inspiring Interior is reflective of my current, more relaxed state of mind. Located in Stockholm, this apartment is the epitome of chic yet understated Scandinavian design. Large windows offer beautiful views of the city while drenching the apartment in natural light. The colour palate is a sophisticated neutral combination of greys, whites, creams, blacks and light wood. Designed by the talented Pella Hedeby, this apartment is the perfect refuge for a winter weary soul like me. A girl can dream…..

Inspiring Design

My love of nesting is currently in overdrive. The winter season may be almost over but I intend to make the most of the last few weeks (hopefully) of the cold weather.

This home in Sweden is straight out of my winter nesting daydreams. With gorgeous sea views, a comforting minimalist vibe and beautiful muted tones this home is incredible. Recently renovated, the large kitchen is the perfect refuge for the long winters and the entire house is the perfect place to nest anytime of the year. White floors help to brighten the entire home and contrast perfectly with the deep muted and textured tones of the walls. The garden is a beautiful space to enjoy the gorgeous views once the weather warms up. This a dream home, inside and out! I am obsessed!

Inspiring Interior

When I was completing my certification in Interior Design, I never thought about using concrete in my design choices. Over the past year though, I have been enamoured with all of the design portfolios that I have seen that predominately feature concrete as part of the overall design. When I first saw today’s Inspiring Interior, it immediately captured a piece of my design loving heart.

Located in Victoria Australia, the designers received a commendation from the Victorian Architecture Awards (2016) for this carefully crafted piece of architecture. The timber, brass and gold details add a level of warmth and sophistication while the white marble contrasts beautifully with the concrete to produce a stunning yet laid back family home. Light filled and spacious, the lines between indoors and outdoors are blurred creating a calming yet charming space. The entire home is gorgeous, but I am obsessed with the kitchen in particular. The combination of the statement marble backsplash and concrete island with the black cabinetry and appliances is sheer perfection. The modern gold hood and lights help to elevate this space to a level of creativity I rarely see. It is the perfect place to inspire and encourage creative and delicious new recipes.
