Emerald Envy

Hi Everyone!

I hope that your 2022 is off to a great start! Today’s featured project first captured my attention by showcasing one of my favourite colours throughout the home. Located in Moscow, this apartment is intelligently designed by Natalia Vologdina-Anikina to suit the lifestyle needs of both adults and children. As requested by her clients, Ms. Vologdina-Anikina used an emerald jewel tone colour throughout the home, helping to elevate the apartments luxe factor. From the dining room chairs to cladding in the master bedroom and a geometric art feature in the living room, the colour was seamlessly integrated throughout the home.

With large windows that flood the apartment with natural light, this apartment is both sophisticated yet welcoming. While the kitchen is small, it is designed to encourage socializing when in use which is perfect for both entertaining and family bonding.

The children’s bedrooms are both playful and chic, and the design will work even as the kids grow into teenagers and beyond. I especially love the suede grey panelling and wire star pendents in the room below.

And of course the bathrooms are just as gorgeous as the rest of the home. The textured ceramic tile in the guest bathroom adds a artful and dramatic touch to the space. Love it!

Last but not least (and what initially captured my attention about this project), I love the master bedroom. The captivating mix of emerald green paired with a customized bed with a taupe suede headboard and sleek white pendent lights is memorable and elegant. Love it!

Dream Destination – Casa Aviv by CO-LAB

Hi Everyone!

It has been a really interesting almost year and a half since the world first shut down due to the pandemic. Here in Montreal, we have spent the better part of it in lockdown and with a curfew – a completely new way of life for most of us. While there have obviously been challenges there has also been opportunities for self discovery. I learned to enjoy the peacefulness of parts of my life and to lean into the slow down. The idea of rushing back into large and rowdy crowds hold little appeal to me at the moment. One thing that I am looking forward to is travelling and once I am able to do so, I plan to take a trip where I can breath, relax and enjoy my surroundings without feeling rushed or anxious…my current idea of heaven.

Until then though, I am dreaming about destinations that would fit the bill and today’s Dream Destination feature has been at the top of my list for months. Images of Casa Aviv by Co-Lab have made it’s way around social media these past few months. Surrounded by lush greenery, this minimalistic structure that leans towards austere simplicity offers both calm and privacy.

The 330 square metre home is located on the Yucatan Peninsula along the Caribbean coastline. Oriented east to west to take advantage of the prevailing winds and cross ventilation, this rental home was built with low maintanence durability in mind. I love the simple design choices such as hand polish cement covering the concrete walls and the double height ceiling in the living and dining area along with the black terrazzo flooring. My absolute favourite part of this home are the pivoting glass doors that open to create flow from the living area to small but gorgeous swimming pool and garden.

The home also has a rooftop terrace that can be enjoyed by guests. Many of the furniture and light fixtures throughout Casa Aviv were also designed and fabricated by Co-Lab. Both the styling and the colours used throughout the home help it to further connect with its natural surroundings. Love it!

Commercial Design Crush – Bath & Barley by WeWantMore

Hi Everyone!

Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived and measures are starting to loosen as more and more people get vaccinated, it is time to start exploring and enjoy commercial spaces again (finally!). Today’s Commercial Crush feature had me captivated from the get go. A Beer Spa?!?! Why have I never heard of such a divine place before? Where can I experience one? These were just some of the questions that quickly came to mind.

Bath & Barley is Belgium’s first ever beer spa. Located in Brussels and designed by the interior design studio WeWantMore (who also designed the branding), this spa has the ultimate cool vibe woven throughout its gorgeous design.

Located in the old city centre of Brussels, it’s clear that WeWantMore kept Belgiums’s medieval beer brewing culture in mind while designing this space. With a soothing and glamorous colour palette, gorgeous vaulted ceiling and using materials like copper, stained glass and straw along with other grains the spa feels authentic towards it’s beer brewing roots while keeping things luxe and feeling elevated.

I am captivated by the dried barley and hops hanging from the ceiling and I love the novel pairing of straw benches next to the infrared saunas along with the stained glass screens featuring church like images of monks and priests brewing beer. WeWantMore thought of everything including images of beer barrels and kettles in the steel frame of the stair case. Love it!

For spa lovers and beer lovers alike, this spa looks like a luxe and memorable wellness destination that I have certainly added to my list of places of visit. What do you think of this design? Let me know in the comments below.

The Stratford London by Space Copenhagen

There are many things that I love about travelling. Like many people bitten by the travel bug, I relish the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, attempt to communicate in a new language, meet new people, try new food and learn more about this beautiful and diverse planet we call home. Another thing that I love about travelling is staying in a hotel. Now I realize that not everyone who travels enjoys this part of it (or even does it given the growing popularity of AirBnB), but I love it and spend an enormous amount of time researching hotels while making my travel plans. This may seem odd to some but I love the luxury of a good hotel, the thought that has gone into the design and the effort that is made for the guest to have an enjoyable experience. I have such great memories of my hotels throughout my travels: crawling into a dreamy bed with a pastel de nata and watching Chicago PD after a long day of sightseeing in Lisbon, trying my first Nepresso coffee thanks to the courtesy machine in my room in Barcelona or unwinding with a chilled glass of wine on my hotel room balcony in Madrid are just some of my favourites. So while travel has been put on hold for me at the moment I am still dreaming of the day that I will get back to enjoying my hotel experiences. The most recent hotel that I am dreaming about is The Stratford in London. This room was designed by the multi talented design team Space Copenhagen.

Like all of Space Copenhagen’s projects this room is elevated elegance while staying true to their Scandinavian roots. The colour palette is both welcoming and relaxing and the various textures and materials used add just the perfect amount of interest without being overwhelming.

The bathroom is a marble oasis with a lust worthy tub to relax in after a busy day. The veining in marble adds interest and helps the eye to softly move throughout the space. Black fixtures and natural accents elevate this space to dreamy.

The countertop sink further elevates the slight Eastern influence, and coupled with the balance of fixtures successfully gives guests a subtle zen vibe throughout the space.

The colour palette and textures in the bedroom is my favourite thing about this space. From the natural wood floors to the softly coloured walls elegantly contrasting and elevating the hardware and colour of the furniture throughout the room. The gorgeous green of the bench and headboard of the bed has completely grabbed my attention and I will be looking of ways to incorporate it into my own space. Love it!

Overall, this dreamy refuge by Space Copenhagen has captured my attention and has me looking forward to dreamy future hotel visits.

Vacation Dreaming – Masseria Moroseta

Hi Everyone!

It’s hard to believe that we are already into August and the reality of not travelling this summer has finally sunk in. I had every intention of making the best of the situation and had planned to explore Montreal with the fresh eyes of a tourist. Unfortunately I allowed myself to be distracted and I have not had a lot of time to just relax. Lock down and quarantine have really put a few things into perspective though, and highlighted things that were previously taken for granted including the freedom to travel and explore other countries. To help to combat my sadness over the lack of travel in my life at the moment, I have started to dream about and plan trips that I would LOVE to take in the future.
Today’s Vacation Dreaming post is very special to me as it is a destination that I have been dreaming about for many years. Masseria Moroseta is a modern farmhouse in Puglia. Set on five hectares of organic olive fields, it boasts gorgeous views of the sea and the city of Ostuni.

Designed by one of my favourite designers Andrew Trotter, Masseria Moroseta design is both modern with traditional elements incorporated throughout. It seems like the perfect refuge for the weary to relax, rejuvenate and rebalance.

The rooms are minimal and clean but have a modern twist to the decor. They encourage rest and relaxation while not being overly stimulating.

The outdoor spaces throughout the property are incredible. From the chic but cozy pergola, to the gorgeous outdoor dining spaces, there is even an olive grove on the property. The olive oil from the grove is organic and is offered to guests and clients of the property and helps them to learn more about the flavours of the land, the history or the property and it’s traditional work. My absolute favourite space is the swimming pool. With the olive groove in the background the pool area looks incredible. Masseria Moroseta even offers yoga classes around the pool. I have have spent many hours dreaming of visiting Masseria Moroseta and in my dreams most of those hours have been spent at this pool.

The icing on this proverbial dream vacation is the food. The chef at Masseria Moroseta is the supremely talented Giorgia Eugenia Goggi. One glance at her Instagram (@giorgiaeugeniagoggi) showcases her great eye for gorgeous foods shots, her talent for cooking with seasonal foods and her creativity with always creating new twists on classic foods. Cooking classes are offered on site using exclusively organic and raw materials.

Masseria Moroseta is a dream destination for me, one that I hope to experience for myself in the future. From the design to the food to the many amenities it has to offer, it’s easy to see why Masseria Moroseta is the perfect place to escape to.
