Inspiring Interior

Normally, when I hear the words “Italian villa” I think of a rustic and charming home, but today’s Inspiring Interior challenges that vision in the best way possible. Located in the Tuscan country between Florence and Arezzo, this villa is breathtaking in its simplicity. Designed by Rachele Biancalani Studio with Matteo Bonechi technician, this villa defies traditional ideas of what a villa is supposed to look like and delivers a simple and sophisticated home. Exposed beams and large arched windows perfectly compliment the warm natural tones of the home along with the clean white accents. I love it! Trend Spotting Fall 2017 – White Footwear

I love the fact that over the past few years people have thrown caution to the wind and included white in their post Labour day wardrobe. From winter white denim to cream coloured suits – I love it all. White is such a clean and flattering colour, and while it makes it extra challenging for klutzes like me to maintain a tidy appearance all day long I still love to rock it.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, you know that the white sneaker trend has officially become a wardrobe staple. Whether you rock them with dresses or suits, jeans or joggers they look great and add an extra bit of cool to your look. This season though, the white footwear trend has been elevated to a new level. While the casual sneaker remains a staple, many designers such as The Row, Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs all sent fabulous white boots and shoes down the runway during their Fall/Winter 2017 shows. One of my favourite fashion mavens Celine Aagard even included a gorgeous pair of white shoes in her collection for Eurosko. This trend is showing no signs of slowing down as designers have also featured white footwear in their Spring 2018 presentations, most recently Rag and Bone during New York Fashion Week. Needless to say – I love this trend!

While white footwear is not for the timid, it is fun, playful and definitely makes a statement. My favourite is the white bootie and the white heeled shoe – both of which can be easily worn with many outfits. Here are some of my favourite white footwear from the Fall 2017 runways and Instagram:

Street Style Favourites From Stockholm Fashion Week S/S 18

Stockholm’s Fashion Week for S/S 18 was held last week and as expected many Scandinavian style stars were out in full force. Fortunately they did not disappoint, effortlessly mixing falls hottest trends with into their own personal style. Overall the looks were bold, unique and fabulous! Street Style Favourites from Copenhagen Fashion Week S/S 18

Copenhagen held it’s bi-annual fashion week a few weeks ago to showcase designs for the Spring Summer 2018 collections. As expected the local fashion elite was out in full force. While it would be easy to group the fashion from Scandinavian countries into one group, the truth is that each country has it’s own unique style. Copenhagen’s style stars used the spotlight to show case their styling prowess by mixing bold patterns, bright colours and hi/low fashion with a quiet confidence that most people can only dream of pulling off. Many elevated the cool girl factor by arriving in style on bicycles – not something you would normally see from street style stars. Here are some of my favourite looks from Copenhagen’s Fashion Week S/S 2018:

Street Style Favourites From Oslo Fashion Week S/S 18

In the fashion world February and September are referred to as fashion months. It is during these months that major fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris are held. Bloggers and the fashion elite flock to these cities and in recent years are photographed headed to the shows – this is often referred to as street style. While the major shows are great and show the upcoming collections from well known brands and designers along with a few that are gaining traction on the world stage, I love looking at the styles from the lesser known fashion weeks. If you have been following this blog for a while, it should come as no surprise to you that I have a special place in my heart for Scandinavian design. While I normally show my affection by spotlighting various interiors with Scandinavian influence on Stylishly Zen, I would be remiss if I didn’t shine the spotlight on the fabulous street style and fashion from these countries. As a former fashion executive, I find the fashion styling in these countries fabulous, inspiring and distinctly Scandinavian. Fashionable yet effortlessly cool and unique, these looks are gorgeous and inspiring. Love! Love! Love!

This past August Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm all held their fashion shows to showcase their Spring/Summer 2018 collections, so over the next couple of weeks I will be showcasing my favourite looks (both street style and shows) here on Stylishly Zen starting today with street style from Oslo.
