Trendspotting – Fall Florals

Floral patterned clothing is normally reserved for spring.  They add a freshness and a softness to the wearer’s outfit marking the change of seasons after a cold hard winter.  My personal style tends to be a little bit more simple and edgy so florals rarely make an appearance in my wardrobe – the one exception is if I find a darker floral pattern that I can integrate into my wardrobe.  Thankfully this fall darker florals are trending in a big way.  From jackets and dresses to blouses and bombers, fall florals are everywhere this season.  The darker, more muted colours blend seamlessly with other fall trends such as red clothing and accessories , velvet and gorgeous suiting

Fall florals can work for most people’s styles – the key is to pair it with things that you already own and love.  I love to toughen up the look by pairing it with darker denim, leather jackets or leggings and booties.  Here are some of my favourite fall floral looks this season.

Inspiring Interior

Restoring a historic building requires a lot of thoughtful consideration, a well trained eye and a talent for creating a modern space while still respecting the building’s history and bones.  Today’s Inspiring Interior is a historic building located in Ghent, Belgium that was carefully restored in 2013 by Hans Verstuyft Architects.  This stunning 19th building has been transformed into a spacious and modern home with stong historic details.  The contrast of the timber flooring and minimalist esthetic against the high ornately carved ceiling is memorable, unique and breathtaking.  Hans Verstuyft Architects have done an incredible job on this project and I look forward to seeing what other projects they develop in the future. Here are some of my favourite shots from the Ghent project:

Trendspotting – Velvet Crush

Love it or hate it, velvet has the power instantly elevate an outfit.  Because it has such a distinctive look, velvet tends to either be trending or just completely outdated – there is no in between.  I love that velvet is currently trending this fall, but that unlike previous seasons when velvet was popular, this season’s looks are edgier, cooler and a lot more streamlined.  Many designers sent velvet looks down the runway for Fall 2017 but my favourite by far were the gorgeous pant suits from Tibi and Altuzarra – love it! Here are some of my favourite looks featuring the velvet trend:

Inspiring Interior

Judging from the amount of Inspiring Interiors blog posts that I have done on Swedish designs lately, it would be safe to say that I have a deep love for Swedish interiors. Today’s post is no exception.

Located in Stockholm, this stylish one bedroom flat is a minimalist interior designer’s dream.  The wood furniture highlights the beauty of the herringbone wood floor and the bright white kitchen is chic yet unfussy.  The dining nook is an ideal spot to host friends while the little balcony is the perfect spot to enjoy the weather.  Overall, what this apartment lacks in size more then makes up for it in design.

Trendspotting – Red Hot

I love how wearing a specific colour can influence your mood.  White is innocent and fresh, black is sophisticated and unfussy and red……well red screams power and confidence – red gets you noticed.  While I am generally a fairly shy person who is really not comfortable with a lot of attention, wearing red makes me feel strong, confident and in control.  Wearing red helps me to tap into my superpowers and in many ways is my not so secret weapon.  I was thrilled when I saw a ton of red gracing the Fall 2017 runways – Fendi, Jil Sanders and Victoria Beckham all showed gorgeous looks.  The street style take on this bold trend is just as fabulous – full red suits and bold accessories are definitely a trend that I can get behind.  Here are some of my favourite looks featuring this trend both on and off the runway:
